Rage in the Cage
DeWitt High School recently celebrated Vocational Week by having a range of activities for the student’s. Monday started the week off with Pajama Day in honor of Arkansa Children’s Hospital. Tuesday activities consisted of student’s wearing hats and donating money for March of Dimes. Students were asked to dress up as what they want to be when they grow up. Thursday was wear red day to raise awareness of Student’s Against Destructive Decisions. On Friday, over $500 worth of prizes and money was donated by the following business’s: Tommy’s Rexall, Dean’s, Carrington’s Collections, Sister’s Treasurers, DeWitt Florist, Ginger’s, Southern Surprise, Lacott’s, John Deere, Case, Sonic, Subway, Family Dollar, Kroger, Little John Quick, Big Papa’s, Cormier, Conoco, PCC, Gifts Galore, Kay Webb, Hwy 1 Flea Market, Economy Drug, Dragon Booster Club and Carter Building Supply. FBLA, FCCLA, and FFA members had a chance to play “Rage in the Cage.” Carter Building Supply donated the use of a dog pen that was filled with over 500 balloons. Member’s names were drawn and given 30 seconds to pop and gather as many prizes as possible. Tucker Travis and Taylor Simmons were the big winners of the day.
Also, to raise awareness around the state, Claire Shell and Zach Bussey attended a Career and Technical Student Organization Meeting in Little Rock. During the meeting, Governor Mike Beebe signed a proclamation declaring February as Career and Technical Month in Arkansas. Claire Shell serves as the District III State Vice-president. Zach Bussey represented the DeWitt Chapter. During the meeting, the students were given a chance to tour the capitol and meet with Governor Beebe.
