Parent-Teacher Conferences

Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held Thursday, February 16, from 2:00-7:00 p.m. at each school of the DeWitt School District.  School will be dismissed at 2:00 p.m.

As stated in a recent article by the Center for Public Education, it may be one of the least controversial statements in American education: Parent involvement can make a difference in a child’s education. Two-thirds of teachers surveyed (Public Agenda, 2003) believed that their students would perform better in school if their parents were more involved in their child’s education, while 72% of parents say children of uninvolved parents sometimes “fall through the cracks” in schools (Johnson & Duffett, 2003). Read the complete article here.

For more information regarding parent-teacher conferences and ways you can become involved in your child's education, please contact your child's school.

America's Farmers
Grow Rural Education Program

America's Farmers Grow Rural EducationSM (AFGRE), a Monsanto Fund program, gives farmers in 1,245 counties across 39 states the opportunity to nominate their public school district to compete for a grant of up to $25,000. The nomination period takes place January 6 – April 15, 2012.

Grants will be awarded based on merit, need and community support. The more farmers to nominate a school district, the more community support is demonstrated, and it strengthens the school district’s application. The most important thing we can grow is the next generation.

Nominate your rural public school district today at GrowRuralEducation.com. Entrants must be 21 years or older and actively engaged in farming a minimum of 250 acres of corn and/or, soybeans and/or cotton, and/or 40 acres of open field vegetables, or at least 10 acres of vegetables grown in protected culture.
