Middle School Mummies |
 |
DeWitt Middle School's 7th grade social studies students have studied ancient Egypt in the last few weeks. They made a life size replica of an Egyption mummy. They chose their dimensions by measuring different students in the 7th grade and modeling that part of the mummy after them. The legs are modeled after Jacob Chapman, the torso of Stone Matthews, and the arms and head of Tyrius Luster. This has been the perfect way to literally WRAP the year up!! Mr. Clay Dollar teaches 7th grade social studies.

Spanish Projects |
 |
Students from Spanish I and II recently completed projects in Senora Counce's classes. Spanish II students chose to present PowerPoints, make craft projects, ormake posters and tell about various subjects related to Spanish culture and history. Some of the most interesting were on the Mexican Revolution, the language of the fan, the Aztec calendar, the Mariachi Band and its history, the Mayan Indians, the Day of the Dead, Cinco de Mayo, la Semana Santa, Bullfighting in Spain, Carnaval, and a Spanish lesson for the DHS Transition Lab. The week ended with a piñata party.
Spanish I students made PowerPoint or posters of their family trees and wrote paragraphs on fifteen members of their families. Nearly two weeks were set aside for each student to deliver his or her presentation to the class.
