Hunter Ed
By Debbie English
All DMS 6th graders enjoyed a course of Hunter's Ed led by Mrs. Linda Gunnell. On Thursday they enjoyed listening to some special speakers: Mr. Jimmy Green who talked about muzzleloading, Mrs. Janee' McFerrin talked about first aid, Mr. Larry Childers and Mr. Brent Watkins talked about bow hunting. On Friday the class enjoyed a simulated hunt with the volunteer help of Mr. John Howard Gunnell, Mr. Jimmy James, and Mr. Brad Koen. During the hunt the "hunters" carried wooden guns and learned the proper way to climb a fence, to get in a boat, and get in a ranger. Mr. Kenneth Graves also talked to the "hunters" about wildlife identification.
